Three reports on rural journalism
In preparation for upcoming discussion, here are three reports that offer some insight:

The second is a sort of the state of the business report on rural journalism.
Finally, here is the most recent issue that I can find of the Rural Report, a newsletter published by the IRJCI.

New York Times Magazine details North Dakota oil boom
The current New York Times magazine has a lengthy article about the consequences of the oil boom in formerly agricultural North Dakota. Meanwhile, the Rural Blog talks about what the media should be doing to inform its consumers about what's happening in their communities.
